We do know how it feels when it comes to our experiences being a patient. Not worth doing, helpless, unhappy, having a little interest, or anything else are examples of our experiences being a patient. We want to do something for our family or our friends, like doing our tasks at home and trying to learn for test. Sometimes our family member or our friend ask us to not doing something like those because our condition. It's kinda uncomfortable for some people who always doing their jobs to just sitting around and do nothing. They may start to thinking about their jobs, how about the progress of the jobs without his/her role, what kind of difficulties do the comrades overcome, etc.
A simple disease can lead us to think about our problems in daily life, but how about people who suffer from chronic illness? There's a lot of people who can still doing their activity in this kind of situation. There's a lot of people who cannot doing their activity because of chronic illness. The medical staffs, their family, or their friends ask them to rest until they become healthier. We should know first, what activity does the patient intend to do? If it's like an activity which requires much power, it's alright if we ask him/her to rest and not do it. But if it comes to activity which requires a little power and stamina, the patient can try to do it with help from others.
By doing something, a patient may feel they can still do something, so that he/she can regard himself/herself. A patient will be able to view his/her self from the positive persepctive. They will have a knowledge about what kind of positive qualities do they have in their condition. The sense of regard will became one of their strength to overcome the stress caused by their condition. When the patient have the feeling of helpless, they can use the experience of the positive feelings to overcome the feelings of helpless. Have your ever experience a patient shows his/her smile while his/her family with them? It's like a kind of power exist inside the family. The power is social support, something needed for a patient with chronic illness. The patient feels the families are still waiting for his/her recovery. With social support, the patient gains affection from their relatives.
He/she might not forget about how it feels when someone asked about her condition. The patient's families or friends maybe aware about his/her condition too, especially the progress of the recovery. There's a possibility the patient's condition haven't become healthier because of the low adherence of medical condition. The feeling to be loved enhances the patient's motivation to become healthier. The wish improves the patient's adherence of medical procedures. They become aware of their medical condition and make a behavioral changes. They may follow the medical staff's advice and became more concern about the progress of their health. Their behavior leads to better medical condition, they will be able to smile a lot, laugh with heir relatives, and doing their daily activities.
